While English apps on a Japanese OS present no problems for a Japanese user, the reverse presents special challenges. English versions of Windows 2000 and later can handle Japanese. With Win95/98/ME, though, your choices are more limited. You can browse Japanese web sites and even do Japanese e-mail with either MS Internet Explorer and Outlook Express or with Mozilla / Netscape. You just need to get Microsoft's Global IME and Japanese fonts. The Mac has always been more multi-lingual than Windows.
